Carol Naomi Hadley
August 24, 1939 - July 21, 2024
Carol Naomi Hadley, widow of Gerald L. Hadley, was born on August 24th, 1939, in Manassa, Colorado. She passed away on July 21, 2024, while attending the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a California State Delegate. She was 84 years old.
Carol was the daughter of Erastus Trujillo and Flavia Romero and sister to four brothers and three sisters. She grew up in Layton, Utah, where she developed her love for family, faith, community, and performing arts.
Carol lived a life full of love, compassion, and dedication. Her adventurous spirit led her to join the Ogden Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol as a teenager. Later, she proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force where she met her first husband, Bernice Darwin Roberts, and had four children: David Roberts (Karen), Kimberly Johnson (Tyler), Margaret Folsom (Todd), and Anthony “Tony” Roberts (Kele). They later divorced.
Throughout her life, she loved the performing arts. She participated in live theater in high school and college. As a beautiful young woman she sang for the USO, served as the musical director of a multi-branch military bicentennial celebration, and willingly sang for anyone who asked. With her outgoing personality, she was a successful Tupperware manager, a realtor, and a political consultant.
As a woman of great faith, Carol served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout her life and held many positions. Her great love was serving with her sweetheart in the Pacific Rim Branch where she was affectionately called Mom and Grandma by all. A tremendous blessing came from their service in the Branch when Mom and Jerry welcomed Bao Her and Stephanie Ly (Anthony) into our family.
In addition to her other passions, Carol was deeply involved in Republican politics, holding many local, state, and national offices for the National Federation of Republican Women. Her involvement in Republican politics was a passion she pursued until her passing.
She was heavily involved in her Stockton community where she was honored as Woman of the Year and wrote a column for the Latino Times, and a member of the Lions Club. Beyond the numerous community organizations, she had a smile and a hug for everyone, considering strangers as family she had not yet met. The Hadley home was open to all who touched her life.
She was married to her beloved husband, Jerry Hadley, for thirty-four years. She is survived by her six children and her three stepdaughters: Diana Hadley, Sue Bottenfield (Kevin), and Patricia Renas (John). Carol had 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she took immense pride in each of her children’s accomplishments and lives.
Carol will be dearly missed by all who know her, but her legacy of love and kindness to all will live on in our hearts forever.
A viewing for Carol Hadley will be held on August 10, 2024 at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. both to be held at the LDS Brookside Chapel, 800 Brookside Rd, Stockton, California. The service will be followed by interment at Cherokee Memorial Park 14165 Beckman Road Lodi, California. A lunch will follow at the Brookside LDS Chapel.
