Consuelo Ruiz

In Memory of Our Beloved Consuelo Mora Ruiz, 1935-2025

With heavy hearts, the family of Consuelo Mora Ruiz announces her passing from this world on January 7, 2025, in the city of Stockton, California, at the age of 89. Consuelo passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.

Consuelo was born in Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico, a place she always held dear in her heart. She was the daughter of Antonio Mora and Esperanza Madrigal. As the eldest of eight siblings, she devoted herself from a young age to helping her family. In 1956, she married Salvador Ruiz, and a few years later, together they made the courageous and difficult decision to emigrate to the United States in search of a better future for their young family.

Consuelo was blessed with many gifts, among them her beautiful voice and love for music, an exceptional talent for sewing and embroidery, and a heart full of compassion and generosity. She was a member of several church choirs, and it was always a magical experience to hear her unmistakable voice echo throughout the church. Likewise, she brightened countless family gatherings and celebrations with her songs.

Her generous spirit led her to keep her home’s doors always open and to make room at her table for anyone who came by. She left us many precious treasures: blankets she lovingly sewed and shirts she embroidered for her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, siblings, and friends.

Consuelo leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, compassion, and strength that transcends generations. She is survived by nine children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and siblings. Her love and teachings will always be a light guiding our paths.

We invite you to celebrate Consuelo’s life and honor her memory with stories of her exceptional life and the music she so cherished. This celebration will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 1:00 to 6:30 PM at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home. In keeping with our dear Consuelo’s wishes, we invite you to wear attire in colors other than mourning hues.

May her soul find eternal rest, accompanied by those loved ones who passed before her.

Donald “Don” Eugene Hall, 82, passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2025, in his home in Stockton, CA, surrounded by his loving family. Don was born on February 14, 1942, in South Sioux City, Nebraska, to parents Walter and Edna Hall. He was the second youngest of six children: Dorothy, Jack, June, Delores, Joann, and Kenneth. As a child and adolescent, Don was passionate about sports, playing baseball, football, and running track.

In 1969, Don moved from Nebraska to Stockton as part of a work transfer with Swift Meat Company. In 1973, he was hired at Deuel Vocational Institute (DVI) in Tracy, CA, as a correctional officer. Don retired from DVI in 1998 at age 56 after 25 years of exceptional service, receiving letters of commendation for his meritorious actions during an institutional emergency and for excellent attendance. After retiring, Don dedicated his time to his four active boys: Andrew, Mathew, Patrick, and Alexander, taking them to and from school and to their after-school activities and sports functions. He supported Lori as she transitioned from half time to full time teaching, doing the household chores and taking pride in the home they built together. On weekends, Don and Lori took joy in watching their boys play soccer and baseball, forming lifelong friendships with other parents and their children. Don was proud of his sons' achievements and supported them in every way!

In 2013, Don and Lori welcomed their granddaughter Mia into their family, and Don embraced his new role as "Papa" with love and admiration. In later years, he continued to support Lori as she entered retirement, always encouraging her to explore her interests and passions.
