Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Taylor family.

Glenn Lavern Taylor, 98, died at his home in Roseville, CA on August 28th, 2018. He was born in Dundee, Iowa on June 23, 1920, and lived most of his early life on farm with his parents, Walter and Edith Taylor and his sister Lenore (Taylor) Mohrmann.

He was a WWII veteran serving in the US Navy as a Quartermaster 3rd Class. He was so proud of his military service. After the war he attended Iowa State University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Husbandry. He left farming in Iowa and moved with his first wife (Vera Cook) and three children, to California where he worked for the California Farm Bureau in Visalia and then as a feedlot manager for Will Gill and Sons in Madera. In 1979 he married Vi Taylor and moved to Lodi, CA. That was his home until 2016 when he entered hospice care in Roseville.

Glenn loved life and was blessed with a long one. He enjoyed every minute he could spend with family and friends. He is survived by his sister, Lenore Mohrmann, his three children, Jeannette Stephens, Carol Vickerman (Dave), Walter Taylor (Kim), and grandchildren David Vickerman (Kristy), Amy Pastorino (Nick), Karen Moreland (Justin), Lisa Kowalik (John), Austin Taylor (Juanita), and six precious great grandchildren.

A service celebrating his life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Lodi, CA on September 4th at 12:00 PM. A private burial service at Cherokee Memorial Park will precede the service.

Memorial contributions can be made to the United States Navy Memorial or the First United Methodist Church in Lodi.
