William Edward DuBois
March 27, 1933 – January 30, 2024
William (Bill) Edward DuBois passed away peacefully under hospice care in Lodi on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, just a few months short of his 91 st birthday. William was born in Westwood, California and spent the majority of his life in the Stockton-Lodi area. He attended Stockton high School, Stockton Collage and graduated from the University of San Francisco with a degree in Business and Finance. He joined the United States Air Force in May of 1952 and served on active duty during the war in Korea. He was honorably discharged from the reserves in 1960.
William married Melba Loraine Smith on July 31, 1955. They remained married for 57 years until her passing on September 8, 2012. They had two children, Gregg William DuBois and Michelle Marie DuBois (Meurrier), along with three Grand Children and seven Great Grand Children.
William’s professional career reflected 40 years in Real Estate and banking in the local Stockton- Lodi community area. He retired from the Real Estate Lending Department at the Bank of Stockton in 1998. During this time he enjoyed tennis, golf, alpine snow skiing, traveling and attending sporting events. In his later years he was very active in the Masonic Lodge within the Stockton Scottish Rite Morningstar Lodge #68, attaining his 33 rd & Final Degree in 2016. He also did volunteer work for the Dameron Hospital Auxiliary and spent much time with his family.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Melba, his father William Robert DuBois and mother Mae Margarite Morey DuBois. He is survived by his son Gregg W. DuBois of Stockton, his daughter Michelle M. Meurrier of Lodi, his brother Robert Linley DuBois of Lodi and his sister Suzanne Mae Getsey of Fresno. He was also the proud Grandfather of Nicole M. Winans of Lodi, John T. Meurrier of Sonora and Kaitlyn M. DuBois Garcia of Stockton, as well as his seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Cherokee Memorial Park cemetery chapel, March 1 st at 10 AM, followed by a gathering and meal served at the adjacent reception center (14165 Beckman Road, Lodi). Memorial contributions may be made in William’s name to the Stockton Scottish Rite Language Center, 33 West Alpine Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204.
