James Leroy Garrett, 91 years old, passed away in Elk Grove, CA, January 30, 2024, from old age.
He was born August 8, 1932, to Ersel Elmer and Birtha Sherl in Tulsa, Oklahoma. James is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille.
He is graduate of Lodi High School and American River Junior College and a United States Air Force Veteran. He worked at Aerojet Propulsion on America’s first successful satellite engine and completed his career at McClellan AFB.
In 1954, while in flight school, he met and married Edna Lucille Turner in Sabinal, Texas. They went on to have 6 children (Michael, Deborah Shaffer, Patricia Davis, Mitchell, James, and Dennis), 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10am on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, CA.
